Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Construction of road from Sherichhu to Gongrizomsa (35 km rural Road)
The Department of Roads (DoR) in Bhutan is the nodal agency when it comes to roads in the country. The DoR is responsible for construction and maintenance of all national highways in the country and the bridges over them. For new road construction, the Department has to list, study and prioritize all prospective roads. After that, a detailed project report which includes feasibility study, environmental impact assessments, geotechnical assessment, survey, design and drawings and bill of quantities and cost estimates needs to be prepared. One such prospective road is the one from Sherichu to Gongrizomsa. This road will connect the eastern dzongkhags to the Gyelposhing Nganglam Highway and bring about easier connections to the to three populous eastern Dzongkhags (Mongar, Trashigang and Trashi Yangtse). It is also expected to provide connectivity to three most isolated gewogs of Mongar, Thangrong, Khengkhar and Jurmeywhich have remained without road connectivity and isolated from the rest of the country. Further this road will provide access to future hydro power projects along the Gongri- KholongChhu Basin. Considering its importance, the Department of Roads is planning to carryout detailed study and prepare Detailed Project Report with the use of modern technologies and make it ready for construction in the 13th Five Year Plan.
